Provide a little introduction about yourself, where are you from?

Hello! My name is Zakiya M. Rhodie. I am from Long Island, NY. I have a Bachelors in Science in Pharmacology and Toxicology and a minor in Chemistry. I am interested in Public and Global Health.

What are your hobbies?

I enjoy traveling, playing tennis, reading, listening to music, and watching films.

Where do you hope to be after you are finished with pharmacy school?

I intend to be working as a clinical licensed pharmacist. I aspire to remain involved with global pharmacy health by attending a mission trip annually thereafter pharmacy school!

What did you accomplish at the end of your P1 year?

My greatest accomplishment during my first year as a professional pharmacy student was when I acquired the International VP position of the International Pharmaceutical Student Federation (IPSF) of UB's APhA Chapter. Also, I was the P1 Christian Pharmaceutical Federation International (CPFI) Liaison. I was involved in a number of sub-committees as well; including the IPSF fundraising committee designed to collect over-the-counter medications and raise funding for pharmacy students that aspire to provide medical aid internationally. As a member of LKS's service committee, I became apart of many projects including the Organ Donation Awareness project designed to promote and encourage the importance of saving lives with organ and blood donation to UB students around campus. The most memorable experience of my P1 year was attending a Christian-based mission trip to Haiti with SIGN Inc. Lastly, I was granted a position as Sisters of Charity Hospital as a Clinical Pharmacy Intern.

One piece of advice that you would give to someone preparing for pharmacy school.

I believe that success is the sum of repeated efforts! Always put your best foot forward. Continue to consistently persevere and strive to become the best version of yourself!
